LOOKING BACK TO LOOK FORWARD: MY FIRST YEAR IN A
This chapter examines my own exploration of using technology with elementary students. Like many
others, I too was skeptical of the impact of using different technologies and tools on young children
and their learning. I completed my first year at the American School of Bombay with my outlook and
practice genuinely transformed.
Nitasha Crishna Chaudhuri
Nitasha is currently teaching first grade at the American School of Bombay. She
also taught Grade 3 at ASB during which time she was part of the team that piloted
e-Portfolios across the grade level. Nitasha got her teaching qualification from
Westminster College, Oxford Brookes University, and taught in the UK for almost a
decade before coming back to India. Her passion and primary interest has always
been with lower primary grades and especially in developing emerging literacy
and numeracy skills. This year she is exploring the use of online software to help
her first graders document their learning stories. Nitasha teaches full time, is a first time mum and
first time student all rolled into one, as she prepares to graduate with a Masters Degree in
Curriculum and Teaching from Boston University.
